Agartala, 7th January 2026 :   In a landmark cultural initiative, residents of Srinagar and Anandanagar are jointly organizing a two-day celebration of Makar Sankranti Snan (Holy Dip) and Poush Mela at the Srinagar Dashmighat ground. The festivities are scheduled for January 12 and 13, marking the first such collaboration between the two communities.

Preparations at the venue are in full swing. On Wednesday, officials inspected the site to review arrangements and assured that adequate measures are being taken to ensure a smooth experience for devotees participating in the holy dip.

Beyond the religious observances, the mela will showcase stalls by local traders, offering a range of goods and delicacies. Organizers expect a large turnout, with the event blending spiritual devotion and festive commerce.

Community leaders expressed optimism that the initiative will strengthen cultural ties and create new opportunities for small businesses. “This joint effort reflects unity and pride in our traditions,” said organizers, adding that the mela could evolve into an annual tradition for the region.
