Agartala, 23rd September 2026 : Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday said that several things once considered impossible in the healthcare sector in Tripura are now becoming possible due to the improvement of medical services in the state.
He said organ transplantation is now being successfully carried out in Tripura, while telemedicine has also enabled people to receive timely and appropriate medical care.
Addressing beneficiaries during the 73rd edition of Mukhyamantri Samipeshu at his official residence, Dr Saha said the state government’s objective is to provide quality healthcare to the people at an affordable cost.
During the programme, Phuldebi Debbarma of Konaban in Sepahijala district sought assistance for her son’s heart treatment. After hearing her plea, the Chief Minister contacted AIIMS, New Delhi, and directed the concerned officials to take necessary steps.
Khokon Pal of South Srirampur in South Tripura approached the programme seeking assistance for his wife, who is suffering from a complicated neurological disorder.
The Chief Minister directed officials to arrange treatment at the earliest under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY).
An elderly woman, Jaya Pal Majumdar of Bhati Abhoynagar, sought medical treatment and financial assistance for a serious illness.
Dr Saha who is also health minister of the state has assured her of necessary treatment and arrangements for a government allowance.
Mausumi Bhattacharyya of Town Bordowali sought assistance for treatment of a kidney-related ailment. The Chief Minister assured her of necessary intervention regarding kidney transplantation.
Other applicants included Jayanta Debnath of Gokulnagar, who sought assistance for kidney-related treatment; Suman Das of Office Tilla, Jirania, who sought help for a serious heart condition; and Abhijit Saha of Bishalgarh, who sought assistance for treatment of a serious liver-related ailment. The Chief Minister instructed officials to take prompt action in their cases as well.
Among those present at the programme were Chief Minister’s Secretary Kiran Gitte, Additional Secretary of the Social Welfare and Social Education Department Tapan Das, and Director of Health Services Dr. Debashri Debbarma. Medical Superintendent of GBP Hospital Dr. Bidhan Goswami, Medical Superintendent of IGM Hospital Dr. Nirmal Sarkar, Medical Superintendent of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer Hospital Dr. Shirmani Debbarma, and other senior officials were also present.
