State to observer  ‘SARDAR@150 Unity March’ from Oct 31: Tinku

Agartala, 13th October 2025:   In celebration of the 150th birth anniversary of India’s Iron Man, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a nationwide march titled ‘SARDAR@150 Unity March’ will be organized. The march, under the ‘My India’ initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, will be held at the state level from 31 October to 25 November and at the national level from 26 November to 6 December, informed Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy at a press conference held at the Secretariat today.

The Minister highlighted that the primary objective of the march is to instill unity, patriotism, and civic responsibility among the youth. On 6 October, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, inaugurated the promotional campaign for this program on the ‘My India’ digital portal. The campaign includes social media reel competitions, essay contests, and the SARDAR@150 Young Leaders Programme, from which 150 winners will participate in the national march.

He said that the national march will commence on 26 November from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birthplace, Karamsad, and conclude on 6 December at the Statue of Unity in Kevadia. The march will cover a total distance of 150 kilometers, during which cultural programs, exhibitions, and discussion sessions will be organized at 150 locations across the villages along the route, alongside social work activities.

“At the state level, the march will be held from 31 October to 25 November, covering 8–10 kilometers in each district. In addition, schools and colleges will host seminars and quizzes. Events like Swadeshi fairs, Swachh Bharat campaigns, drug-free India initiatives, and pledges for nation-building will also be organized. During the march, participants will pay tribute to Sardar Patel by offering flowers at his statues and portraits, as well as presenting certificates and organizing cultural performances”, he said.

The program will be organized with support from various departments including Education, Forest, ICA, Defence, along with NGOs, clubs, NSS and NCC units. The Minister invited people from all sections of society to participate in the march.

Other dignitaries present at the press conference included Dr. P.K. Chakraborty, Secretary of Youth Affairs and Sports; L. Darlong, Director; Bimal Pathak Shah, Director of Youth Development Center; and Bipin Debbarma, President of Maharani Tulsibati Welfare Trust.
