Agartala, 19th January 2025: A stolen motorbike was successfully recovered by the Jatrapur police and returned to its owner on Sunday afternoon, much to the delight of the owner.
The incident began on January 11 when Mritjit Das (28), a resident of the Jumerdefa panchayat area in the Nalchhar assembly region under Sonamura subdivision, left his bike securely locked at Bairagi Bazar while he traveled to Agartala. Upon his return, he discovered that the bike had been stolen. After exhausting all avenues of inquiry, Das promptly filed a written complaint with Melaghar police station.
Following the complaint, Melaghar police alerted various nearby police stations, including Jatrapur, as well as the BSF in the border region. On January 16, jawans from the New Nidya BSF camp, situated near the Jatrapur police station’s jurisdiction, spotted the abandoned bike next to the border’s barbed wire in Durlavpur village. They quickly reported the discovery to Jatrapur police.
In response, sub-inspectors Subhankar Saha and Ajay Baran Saha, along with other police personnel and TSR jawans, rushed to the scene, where they recovered the bike and transported it back to the Jatrapur police station.
The authorities subsequently informed Melaghar police, and on Sunday afternoon, Mritjit Das, along with several other individuals, arrived at the police station. After verifying the necessary documents, police confirmed that it was indeed the stolen bike. The bike was then officially handed over to Das.
