Agartala, 20th December 2025 :  With slogans such as “Why a son after 21, why a daughter before 18” and “From China a bride, but here a schoolgirl,” students of Debipur School staged a powerful awareness campaign at Madhupur market this weekend.

Carrying posters and chanting messages, the students highlighted the harsh reality of early marriage among girls, particularly in poor families where daughters are often married off at 15, 16, or 17. The campaign drew attention to the consequences of child marriage—domestic violence, mental distress, and health complications—that cut short the lives and dreams of many young women.

The initiative was supported by Bishalgarh DCM, Prasenjit Das, who extended his encouragement to the students. Through discussions with shopkeepers, buyers, sellers, and passersby, the young campaigners urged society to break free from this cycle of neglect and injustice.

The students emphasized that early marriage destroys opportunities for education and a better future, calling on everyone to join hands in erasing this “curse” from society. Their appeal resonated strongly, earning praise from traders and community members alike, who lauded the effort as a step toward protecting the rights and dignity of girls.
