Sub-Health Centre in Pitraipara remains locked amid dispute

Date:

Agartala, 4th May 2026:  The Pitraipara sub-health centre under Jolaibari assembly constituency has remained closed for several days, sparking concern among local residents who depend on it for basic medical services.

According to reports, the centre was constructed with government funds to improve healthcare facilities in the area. However, soon after its establishment, disputes arose. The landowner who donated the plot alleged that he was promised a government job for a family member in exchange for providing the land. When the promise was not fulfilled, he locked the health centre, halting services.

Although the centre was reopened after intervention from local leaders and administrative officials, the situation has resurfaced. The landowner has once again locked the facility, insisting that the job commitment be honored before reopening.

Residents have expressed frustration, urging the administration to take immediate steps to resolve the issue. They stressed that the health centre is vital for treating minor illnesses and providing essential medical care. Locals also pointed out that the area continues to suffer from electricity and drinking water shortages, compounding their hardships.
