Agartala, 18th April 2026: A portion of the shuttering structure of the under-construction bridge over the Manu River, stretching from Telia to Sonaimuri in the Fatikroy Assembly constituency, collapsed into the river. The incident sparked curiosity and concern among local residents.
SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das, accompanied by officials from the Public Works Department, local representatives, and villagers, inspected the site today. The collapse drew immediate attention during the inspection.
Minister Sudhangshu Das directed officials to conduct a thorough investigation into the reasons behind the collapse of the bridge section. He emphasized the importance of identifying the cause promptly and ensuring accountability.
He also instructed the officials of the construction agency present to expedite the completion of the project without compromising safety standards.
Authorities have been tasked with conducting a detailed inquiry into the structural failure, ensuring corrective measures are implemented, and accelerating construction work to complete the bridge at the earliest.
