Agartala, 16th April 2024:   Sudip Roy Barman, MLA of Pradesh Congress, has escalated the issue of alleged vandalism against Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s upcoming roadshow in Agartala. In a formal letter addressed to the Returning Officer of West Parliamentary Constituency, Dr. Vishal Kumar, Sudip demands swift action against BJP vice president Papiya Datta and others involved.

According to Sudip’s account, on April 15, between 05:00 and 05:30 pm, Congress workers had diligently placed flags in and around the Budhha Mandir area, in anticipation of the scheduled roadshow on April 16. However, he alleges that Papiya Datta, accompanied by others, deliberately removed these flags, disrupting the event’s preparations with the apparent intention to sow chaos.

Furthermore, Sudip claims that Papiya Datta has been employing coercive tactics, including intruding into the residences of Congress workers and leaders, pressuring them to defect to the BJP. These actions, Sudip argues, not only contravene democratic norms but also undermine the sanctity of the electoral process. Allegedly orchestrated from the BJP’s office situated in Budhha Mandir, Sudip urges the RO to conduct a thorough investigation and, if warranted, shut down the said party office located at Hotel Mars, Agartala, within 200 meters of a polling booth.

In addition to demanding the reinstatement of unlawfully removed INC flags, Sudip calls upon the RO to swiftly address these grievances and take necessary actions against the perpetrators. He emphasizes the importance of updates on the measures taken in response to their complaint.
