Agartala, 17th May 2026: Senior Congress leader and MLA Sudip Roy Barman strongly criticised the Central government on Sunday, alleging poor economic management, weak foreign policy, and growing concerns over youth-related issues in the country.
Addressing a meeting of newly elected representatives of the Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress at the Agartala Students Health Home, he said the country’s current situation was “not satisfactory” and claimed that the economy was under strain.
He further alleged that India’s foreign policy had “failed” and suggested that national decision-making was being influenced externally, including by the United States, indirectly referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to him, citizens are now becoming aware of what he described as governance mistakes, and he called for stronger public awareness against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. He also stressed the need to strengthen the Youth Congress organisational structure and unite young workers.
Raising concerns about the recent NEET examination controversy, Barman alleged that “talent is being compromised” under the current system and accused the government of being driven by financial interests rather than public welfare. He urged young people to actively participate in rebuilding the country’s future.
The meeting saw participation from Youth Congress workers and senior leaders, including Manish Sharma, Ashish Kumar Saha, Zeesan Ahmed, and other party functionaries.
The discussion primarily focused on strengthening the organisation and preparing youth cadres ahead of upcoming political challenges in the state.
