Agartala, 7th April 2026: Former Minister and Tripura Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman on Tuesday called upon voters in the Dharmanagar Assembly by-election to reject the BJP, citing a record of curbed democratic rights, unrest, and corruption.
Speaking to the media during a campaign event for Congress candidate Chayan Bhattacharya, Roy Barman emphasized that the electorate’s decisions should be informed by their personal experiences.
“We urge the public to vote based on what they have witnessed firsthand. People have seen eight years of BJP rule in Tripura and twelve years at the Centre. They understand the ground reality. Simply changing the government is not enough — those supporting the BJP must also recognize the deviations in governance. Voting for Congress is a way to steer the BJP back on the right track,” he said.
Roy Barman further criticized the current situation under the BJP government, saying, “Democratic rights have been curtailed, and the state has endured years marked by loot, unrest, and violence. We are confident that the people will express their response through the ballot. I urge voters to hold the BJP accountable by supporting the Congress candidate.”
