Agartala, 11th September 2025: Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury today emphasized the need for unity among fair price shop owners across the state, stating that collective action would help streamline the delivery of government benefits and strengthen the rationing system.
Speaking at the 8th biennial conference of the Tripura Fair Price Shop Owners’ Association (Sadar AMC Committee), Chowdhury said, “If ration dealers remain fragmented, the government may lose interest in extending support. Unity among shop owners is essential not only for effective service delivery but also for ensuring that their demands reach the appropriate channels.”
The minister assured that the government is committed to addressing the concerns raised by the association. He confirmed that a meeting with a delegation from the association would be held soon to discuss various issues in detail. “The government stands with the association, but the shop owners must continue working in a united manner. Only then can we ensure that fair price benefits reach the public efficiently,” he added.
Chowdhury also commented on the newly formed committee of the association, stating that its performance would be reviewed until March 2026. He cautioned that any member failing to fulfill their responsibilities would be subject to scrutiny and possible action.
The conference brought together stakeholders from across the region to discuss operational challenges and policy matters related to the public distribution system.
