Sushanta Reviews Preparedness for Kharif Marketing Season 2026–27 Rice Procurement

Agartala, 28th  July 2026 : Tripura Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Tuesday chaired a high-level review meeting with owners of empanelled rice mills to assess the state’s preparedness for the upcoming Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2026–27.

The meeting, held at the Civil Secretariat, was attended by the Principal Secretary of the Food Department, the department’s Director and other senior officials.

The discussion focused on ensuring the production of high-quality Custom Milled Rice (CMR), completing milling operations within the stipulated timeframe, maintaining strict quality standards and strengthening coordination among all stakeholders involved in the procurement and milling process.

The Minister also reviewed measures to make the procurement and supply of Custom Milled Rice more transparent, efficient and time-bound.

He emphasised the importance of timely completion of milling operations while maintaining quality to ensure the uninterrupted availability of food grains for the public.

Chowdhury urged all stakeholders, including rice mill owners and departmental officials, to work with greater responsibility and coordination to achieve the objectives of the Kharif Marketing Season 2026–27 and ensure the smooth implementation of the state’s food distribution system.
