Suspected ultras served extortion notice in Simna

Agartala: August 25. Panic create among the people in Dui Gharia area of Sankhola ADC Village of Simna Assembly, after suspected militant entered in a house with arms to collect extortion money.The incident took place yesterday late night at the residence of Piyush Debbarma who was celebrating his birthday.

After finishing his birthday party late at night, five youths wearing military fatigue, covering their face stormed in the house with pistols and guns and was also carrying walkie-talkie and wireless.Among the five persons, four young men entered inside the house. They reportedly asked Piyush Debbarma to pay a huge amount of money. After Piyush said that he has no money, the suspected militants have opened fired on blank. Within moments, the area was in frenzy. The incident took place at 1AM.

On receiving the information, the Officer-in-Charge of Sidhai Police Station and the Sub-Divisional Police Officer reached the spot on the night of August 24. They spent the whole night there but could not gather any information about the persons who entered in the house. Today, the entire area was searched but no information was found. However, Piyush Debbarma’s family could not recognize any of them. Jayanta Malakar, officer-in-charge of Sidhai police station, said that the investigation is ongoing and nothing can be said now. Sub-Divisional Police Officer Kamal Bikash Majumder said that they are most likely members of a gang of robbers. They came to the resident to collect money and said that police has launched an investigation.
