Swadeshi Mela to Be Held in Agartala from January 9 to 11

Agartala, 29th December 2025:    Swadeshi Mela will be held at Vivekananda Maidan in Agartala from January 9 to January 11 under the initiative of the Agartala Municipal Corporation with support from the state government. The fair will be formally inaugurated by Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha.

This was announced by Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder while addressing the media. Ahead of the event, Mayor Majumder visited Vivekananda Maidan to review the preparations for the fair. He was accompanied by Municipal Commissioner D.K. Chakma, Deputy Mayor Monika Das Dutta, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Manik Lal Das, and other officials.

After the inspection, the Mayor said that the fair is being organized for the first time in the state in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan “Local for Vocal.” He added that lectures promoting the use of indigenous products and creating awareness about Swadeshi ideals will be held every day during the fair, along with various cultural programs.

The fair will also feature stalls offering traditional food from different communities and tribal groups of the state. Inviting the people of the state to participate, the Mayor appealed to citizens to enjoy the fair during the winter season and support local products.
