Teacher Accused of Taking Gold Chain from 4-Year-Old Student in Tripura

Date:

Agartala, 2nd May 2026:  A shocking allegation involving a four-year-old child has created tension in the Thakurpara area of Melaghar under Sepahijala district.

According to reports, a teacher from a local English-medium school has been accused of removing a gold chain from a young student. The child, identified as Riddhima Bose, allegedly lost her chain after returning home from school on the 24th of last month.

Her father, Ramu Bose, stated that the chain, weighing around nine annas, was missing when she got back home. When questioned by family members, the child reportedly said that a teacher at the school had taken it off her neck.

Following the incident, Ramu Bose approached the school authorities, but he claims that the allegation was initially denied. Subsequently, he lodged a written complaint at Melaghar Police Station.

Serious allegations have also surfaced that after the complaint was filed, the school authorities attempted to pressure the family into withdrawing the case. It is further claimed that they offered to provide free education to the child as an incentive, an offer the family has refused.

The incident has led to unrest in the local area, with demands from the family for a fair investigation and strict action against those found guilty. Police sources have confirmed that the matter is currently under investigation based on the complaint received.
