Agartala, 13th September 2025:   Ahead of the festive season, leaders of the Left-affiliated teachers and employees’ unions in Tripura have once again voiced their demands. The Tripura Employee Coordination Committee today announced that they will hold mass sit-in protests tomorrow in West Tripura and South Tripura districts to press for their demands.

During a press conference today, the committee outlined several key issues. They demanded immediate recruitment of teachers and employees to fill vacant posts in various departments. They also called for the restoration of biannual Dearness Allowance (DA) disbursements on July 1 and January 1, and the urgent release of 23% pending DA arrears.

The committee urged the government to implement the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission as promised. They proposed increasing the gratuity limit from ₹10 lakh to ₹20 lakh and reinstating the previous rules under the Die-in-Harness scheme. Additionally, they demanded that teachers and employees selected by TRBT and JRBT receive regular pay from their first day of service.

They also called for the removal of complications surrounding ad hoc promotions and the establishment of clear promotion pathways in all departments. The committee emphasized the need for equal financial benefits and synchronized DA disbursement for all employees under TTAADC.

Further demands included strengthening law and order to protect democratic values, taking strict action against drug trafficking, and providing alternative employment for the 10,323 terminated teachers. They also requested that one family member of each of the 191 deceased teachers be given a government job.

On the education front, the committee opposed discriminatory practices under the Vidyajyoti scheme and objected to school closures due to low student enrollment. They demanded the implementation of service rules for employees of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited and timely promotions for Group C and Group D employees. Lastly, they called for the immediate publication of guidelines for the Chief Minister’s Jan Arogya Yojana.

The committee warned that if these demands are not addressed, further agitation may follow.
