Agartala, 16th June 2025:   Unidentified miscreants broke into the ward office of Agartala Municipal Corporation No. 27 late last night making away with crucial documents, computers, cash and other valuable items. The estimated loss from the theft is around Rs 2 lakh, according to the area’s corporator Subhash Bhowmik.

The crime came to light this morning when office staff found the broken lock and immediately alerted the police. Upon inspection, authorities found that several important files, electronic equipment, trophies and cash had been stolen.

Speaking on the matter, Corporator Subhash Bhowmik expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of the ward office, stating that multiple requests for repairs had gone unanswered by higher authorities. He also highlighted the absence of a security guard at the premises, suggesting that drug addicts may have exploited the vulnerability to commit the theft.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident, and efforts are underway to trace the culprits.
