Agartala, 19th May 2026: The Tripura Human Rights Commission has asked the Director General of Police (DGP), Tripura, to submit a detailed report after serious allegations surfaced against a senior police officer of Superintendent of Police (SP) rank.
According to reports cited by the Commission, a 2010-batch Tripura Police Service officer allegedly went missing after attempting to force an inappropriate sexual relationship with a woman police officer. It is further alleged that the officer entered the woman officer’s residential quarters without permission and physically misbehaved with her after her husband had left the home.
The incident is said to have occurred inside police housing premises while the accused officer was on leave. The woman officer reportedly raised an alarm, after which nearby residents gathered at the scene, prompting the accused to flee.
Taking cognisance of the allegations, the Commission noted that such conduct by police personnel could seriously damage public confidence in the law enforcement system. It has therefore directed the DGP to furnish a comprehensive report based on the media reports and related documents.
The Commission has also instructed that copies of relevant newspaper reports and its order be forwarded to the DGP for further examination and appropriate action.
The matter is scheduled for further hearing on June 11, 2026, when the DGP’s report is expected to be submitted.
