Agartala, 19th November 2024 : Three Bangladeshi girls were arrested by the police in the Dharmanagar Rajbari area of North district for illegally entering Tripura. The police have registered a specific case against them and are currently investigating the matter.
According to the incident report, the three Bangladeshi nationals crossed into India from Bangladesh last Saturday. Early Monday morning, around 5 am, a broker facilitated their journey to Dharmanagar, providing them with an address written on a piece of paper. Upon reaching Dharmanagar Rajbari, their presence aroused suspicion among the local residents, who promptly informed the Dharmanagar police station.
“The local people became suspicious and immediately alerted us,” said a police officer. “We reached the spot and arrested the three girls, bringing them to Dharmanagar police station for further questioning.”
During the search, the police found three Aadhaar cards in their possession. Upon interrogation, it was revealed that one of the girls was in a romantic relationship with a young man from the Jalpaiguri area and had come to India with the intention of marrying him. She had brought along two other minor girls from her area.
“We have registered a specific case against the arrested individuals and are conducting a thorough investigation,” stated the officer. The Dharmanagar police are now looking into all aspects of the case, including the involvement of the broker and the circumstances leading to their illegal entry.
