Agartala, 19th November 2024 : A teacher from Poangbari Barua Chowmuhani area Suruj Kanti Das and DWS Junior Engineer Rakesh Das raised serious allegations against some members of the Ramakrishna Club in Nalchhar Poangbari Barua Chowmuhani area. They accused the club members of forcibly occupying land and extorting money from DWS workers and local teachers under the guise of donations.
Suruj Kanti Das, who owns an ancestral property of eighteen kani in the area adjacent to the Ramakrishna Club, sold a portion of this land to Rakesh Das. Following government regulations, Rakesh Das began preparing the land for construction. However, some members of the Ramakrishna Club demanded Rs 1,50,000 from him. When Rakesh Das refused to pay, the club members claimed that the land sold by Suruj Kanti Das was under their supervision. They also spread misinformation, labeling Suruj Kanti Das and Rakesh Das as land mafias.
“Despite having all the necessary documents for my 18 kani land, these club members are trying to extort money from us in the name of donations. They are defaming us because we refused to pay,” said Suruj Kanti Das during the press conference.
Rakesh Das added, “This misinformation is damaging our family’s honor. We demand action against these club members who are using their association with the ruling party to extort money from people.”
The allegations have sparked outrage in the community, with many calling for a thorough investigation. “These few members of the Ramakrishna Club have started a business of extorting money from several people in various ways. Proper action must be taken against them,” emphasized Suruj Kanti Das.
The press conference highlighted the need for accountability and justice, as the affected individuals urged the authorities to address the issue and take appropriate measures against the accused club members. The community awaits the response from the authorities to ensure that such practices are curbed and justice is served.
