Agartala, 19th January 2026:   Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today said that the state would soon get three more new Tripura Bhavans, including in Dwarka, Mumbai, and Telangana.

Dr. Saha said this after laying the foundation stone for the Extension Project of Tripura Bhavan at Bir Tikendrajit Marg in Delhi.

Under this project, six rooms and two hall rooms will be constructed, with an estimated cost of Rs 2.95 crore.

Dr. Saha said, “We have got one space where we have laid the foundation stone. If you think about ourselves, during our school or college days we have visited Delhi several times. But there were no rooms and a lack of accommodation, and if you were not a supporter of a particular party, you would not get a room. Such things were there. So we had to hire some rooms, and those places were very insecure too,” he said.

Dr. Saha said that many people from Tripura come to Delhi and there is a lack of space in the Tripura Bhavan.

“I came here and to another Tripura Bhavan in Kautilya Marg. There are some restrictions also, like you can’t make the buildings too high because of security reasons. However, when I found the space and spoke with the officers here, we tried our best to do something for the people of Tripura. Keeping such things in mind, we have laid the foundation stone. Whatever space was available, we extended it. The estimated project cost is around Rs 2.95 crore. Back in 1981, the first Tripura Bhavan was established in Kautilya Market, and in 2002 the second Tripura Bhavan building at Tikendrajit Marg was extended. Now we have 24 rooms, along with a big hall which is being used as a dormitory,” he said.

Dr. Saha informed that in Dwarka also he visited the site and there is a space of around 3,000 square metres where 60 rooms will be constructed.

“Drawing and design have been made and some clearances are pending. Modern infrastructure will be constructed. Construction of a new Tripura Bhavan in Mumbai is also underway, as many patients go there and land has already been purchased, which is very near to hospitals. In Telangana also one will be built, and land has been sanctioned to us,” said Dr. Saha.

He said that the North East region and Tripura are witnessing massive development in all sectors, and this has been possible due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The foundation-laying ceremony was graced by the presence of the Deputy Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly Ramprasad Pal; Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Rajib Bhattacharjee; Minister for Social Welfare Tinku Roy; Minister for Higher Education Kishore Barman; Minister for Industries and Commerce Santana Chakma; Minister for Tribal Welfare Bikash Debbarma; Minister for Scheduled Caste Welfare Sudhangshu Das; MLA Bhagaban Das; CRC Manoj Kumar; along with several other distinguished dignitaries.
