Agartala, 18th December 2024:   The Government Railway Police (GRP) have arrested three women involved in the violent assault on Railway TTE Atul Kaushik at Manu Railway Station, located in Dhalau District. The arrests were made following the review of video footage from the incident.

The arrested women have been identified as Rubina Chakma (21), from Pechartal Aadhar Chhara village; Rajnamukhi Chakma (30), from Lal Chhara area; and Bina Chakma (35), from Pechartal Jubolichhara village.

The assault occurred about a month ago, when the accused, along with others, were illegally transporting bananas from Manu Railway Station to Agartala using passenger trains. When TTE Atul Kaushik questioned them about the illegal shipment, the suspects claimed that they routinely used passenger trains for such purposes. In response, Kaushik fined them Rs 3000. This led to a violent altercation in which the TTE was severely beaten by the women and several other accomplices. Kaushik sustained serious injuries and was immediately rushed for medical treatment.

Following the incident, the victim filed a complaint with the GRP. A thorough investigation was launched, including the analysis of video footage, which helped identify and arrest the three women. However, several other suspects are still on the run, and efforts to apprehend them continue.
