The child, identified as Abir Das, was fatally hit by a speeding motorcycle while accompanying his mother outside their residence.

Eyewitnesses allege that the motorcycle, reportedly ridden by Ujjal Mia, was being driven at high speed when it struck the toddler. “He rides recklessly every day. This time, it took a child’s life,” said a distraught local resident who witnessed the incident.

The tragedy sparked outrage among residents, prompting immediate deployment of police forces to contain the rising tension in the area. Senior police officials, including West Tripura District Superintendent of Police Kiran Kumar K, visited the spot to assess the situation and restore order.

Speaking to reporters, SP Kiran Kumar K confirmed the arrest of the accused on Monday night. “We have taken the individual into custody. An investigation is in progress to ascertain the full details of the case,” he said.

The heartbreaking loss of young Abir has left the local community devastated. Residents are now demanding stricter traffic regulations and enforcement in the area to prevent such incidents in the future.
