Agartala, 23rd August 2025: A tragic accident at Moracherra village under Kailashahar sub-division claimed the life of 2.5-year-old Sonakshi Debbarma. Left unattended while her mother was ill and her father at work, Sonakshi was watching videos on a mobile phone when it slipped into a nearby drain.
In an attempt to retrieve it, she fell in and died on the spot. Her body was found by local workers and declared dead at Unakoti District Hospital.
The incident has plunged the village into mourning, with residents blaming mobile addiction for the child’s untimely death.
The grieving family, living in poverty without government aid, has also raised concerns over the lack of administrative support following the tragedy.
