Agartala, 16th May 2025: Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Thursday chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the progress of the upcoming state-of-the-art eco-park at Sachindra Nagar Colony in Jirania. The ambitious project is being developed under the Central Government’s Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme, which has already sanctioned funds for the initiative.
The eco-park, envisioned as a major tourist attraction in the region, is being implemented by the Tripura Tourism Department with the goal of boosting tourism and promoting sustainable economic growth in Jirania and its surrounding areas.
The final coordination meeting regarding the project took place at the Jirania SDM Conference Hall. It was attended by key stakeholders including the Director of the Tourism Department, Jirania SDM, elected public representatives, prominent social workers, and land donors.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister Chowdhury announced that the eco-park will be modeled after Kolkata’s popular Nicco Park. “This park will not only offer modern recreational facilities but will also create employment opportunities for local residents, and help foster trade and business in the region,” he said.
The Minister urged landowners in the area to extend their cooperation by making land available for the project. He assured them that the park will be developed through joint funding by both the central and state governments.Among the dignitaries present were Jirania Panchayat Samiti Chairman Pritam Debnath, Jirania Nagar Panchayat Chairperson Ratan Kumar Das, Ranirbazar Municipal Council Vice Chairperson Prabir Kumar Das, West Tripura Zilla Parishad Member Shivayan Das, Tourism Department MD Prashant Badal Negi, and Joint Director Aniruddha Roy, among others.
