Agartala, 28th July 2026 : The Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) has issued a detailed clarification dismissing recent media reports that alleged the recruitment process for 2,110 government posts had been delayed due to the Commission’s inaction. In an official notification issued on July 27, the Commission asserted that the reports published in a section of the local press on July 18 and July 23 presented an “incorrect, incomplete and misleading” picture of the ongoing recruitment process.
According to the notification, recruitment activities have already commenced for 711 posts after receiving formal requisitions from the concerned government departments. The Commission emphasized that it can initiate recruitment only after valid requisitions are submitted by the respective administrative departments and in accordance with the prescribed recruitment rules and statutory procedures.
Providing a status update, TPSC stated that recruitment for 201 Assistant Professor posts under the Higher Education Department is progressing smoothly. The first phase of interviews has been completed, and the results were published on July 21, while the second phase of interviews is scheduled to begin on August 17.
For 198 Tripura Engineering Service (Degree and Diploma) posts under the Rural Development Department, the main written examination was conducted between May 2 and May 5, and evaluation of answer scripts is currently underway. Similarly, interviews for 136 Agriculture Officer posts began on July 6 and are scheduled to conclude on July 28.
The Commission further informed that recruitment through the Tripura Combined Competitive Examination (TCCE) for posts such as Superintendent of Taxes, ICDS Supervisor, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Small Savings Inspector, and Kanungo is also in progress.
In addition, recruitment for posts including Assistant Survey Officer, Revenue Inspector, Inspector of Taxes, Food Inspector and certain others is under active consideration, with the Commission awaiting necessary clarifications from the State Government before proceeding further.
Addressing the remaining vacancies highlighted in the media reports, TPSC clarified that 888 posts have not yet been requisitioned by the Government. These include vacancies for Associate Professor, Fishery Officer, Election Inspector, Panchayat Officer, Panchayat Executive Officer, Panchayat Extension Officer, Sub-Inspector of Police, Weights and Measurement Officer, Lecturer for Technical Colleges, LDACT under GA(SA), Tripura Judicial Service Grade-II, Tripura Forest Service Grade-II, TPS Grade-II and TCS Grade-II. Without official requisitions, the Commission said, it is legally not empowered to begin the recruitment process.
The notification, issued by S. Mog, IAS, Secretary, Tripura Public Service Commission, urged media organisations to verify recruitment-related information with the Commission before publication. It cautioned that inaccurate or misleading reports could create unnecessary anxiety among job aspirants and the general public, reiterating that the clarification was issued to place the actual facts on record and prevent misconceptions regarding government recruitment.
