Agartala, 3rd June 2026: A heartbreaking incident unfolded today in the Motai Krishnapur area under the Hrishyamukh assembly constituency, where seven-year-old Ishita Mitra drowned while bathing in a pond with her grandmother.
According to local sources, Ishita had gone to bathe in the pond near her home around noon. In a moment of carelessness, she slipped beneath the water. Her grandmother immediately raised an alarm, prompting nearby youths to rush to the spot. After an extended search, Ishita’s lifeless body was recovered from the pond.
The locals acted swiftly, transporting her by bike to Belonia Sub-Divisional Hospital. However, doctors declared her dead upon arrival. The devastating news left her parents, relatives, and neighbors in tears at the hospital premises.
Following the post-mortem examination, Ishita’s body was handed over to her grieving family. The sudden loss of the young girl has cast a pall of sorrow over Motai Krishnapur and the Belonia hospital area, with residents mourning the untimely death of the child.
