Train hits and kills wild elephant at Teliamura, tusk missing

Agartala, February 10: A wild elephant was fatally struck by a train in Teliamura DM Para area under Khowai district on the night of Friday last, according to railway police.

The elephant’s body was found by local residents this morning, who alerted the authorities. However, the railway police found that the elephant’s tusk was missing, raising suspicion of poaching. The police have launched an investigation into the incident and the cause of death of the elephant.
