Agartala, 13th February 2026: The Ampi Agriculture Subdivision under the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare organized a training-cum-distribution programme on Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) and farm machinery today at the conference hall of the Ompi Agriculture Superintendent’s office in Gomati district.
A large number of farmers from all Village Committees under Ampi Nagar block gathered at the venue to participate in the event. The programme was inaugurated by Pathan Lal Jamatia, MLA of Ampi 41 constituency, in the presence of Ampi Block BAC Chairman Sindhu Chandra Jamatia and other dignitaries.
During the training session, farmers received practical guidance on the use of weeders and other machinery, along with technical tips to enhance efficiency in modern cultivation. Motivational inputs were also shared to encourage scientific methods for boosting agricultural productivity.
Addressing the participants, S.A. Nibash Debbarma of Ompi Agriculture Subdivision highlighted the benefits of power weeders: “By controlling weeds and enhancing soil conditions, power weeders contribute to improved crop health and yield. Reduced weed competition allows crops to access essential resources more efficiently, leading to increased vigor, uniformity, and yield potential.”
As part of the distribution drive, 28 local farmers from Ampi block received power weeders at subsidized rates. The beneficiaries expressed enthusiasm and optimism, noting that the departmental support would significantly aid their farming practices.
