Agartala, 30th April 2026 : The Teachers’ Recruitment Board, Tripura (TRBT) has come under criticism after an official notice uploaded on its website contained an apparent date discrepancy, triggering questions over the board’s functioning and quality control.
The notice, issued regarding the verification and issuance of T-TET 2024 certificates in compliance with High Court directions, is intended for candidates listed in Annexure-A. However, despite it being July, the document bears the date “29/08/2026” in the header and also reflects “August” in the signature section, while the body of the notice directs candidates to appear on 31st July, 2026. The inconsistency has drawn criticism from several quarters, with many describing it as an avoidable administrative error.
Critics argue that such mistakes are unbecoming of an independent recruitment board entrusted with the crucial responsibility of teacher recruitment. They also alleged that candidates visiting the board for document verification, certificate submission, or other official work are frequently subjected to rude behaviour, taunts, and derogatory remarks by some officials instead of receiving professional assistance.
The latest controversy has also revived concerns over what critics describe as recurring lapses within the board, including errors in question papers and answer keys, delays in recruitment, and mistakes in PGT merit lists. They contend that an official notice passes through multiple levels of scrutiny before publication, making such errors difficult to justify and calling for greater accountability and improved administrative oversight.
