Agartala, March 26: The Tribal Students Union (TSU) has submitted a deputation to the Janjati Kalyan Department, outlining the two-point demand of Janjati students. TSU General Secretary, Sujit Tripura, highlighted the plight of many students who rely on scholarships for their studies abroad.
Recently, the admission of over four hundred B.Ed colleges in West Bengal was abruptly cancelled due to undisclosed reasons. However, following a ruling by the Calcutta High Court, these colleges have been permitted to admit students again, with the admission process set to continue from March 18 to March 23.
Unfortunately, the scholarship deadline for Tripura was February 29, leaving many students unable to apply to the West Bengal colleges. This has resulted in significant difficulties for the students, as many rely on these scholarships for their education.
In response to this issue, TSU representatives visited the Janjati Kalyan Department on Tuesday, demanding an extension of two to three days for the scholarship deadline. This would allow the affected students to complete their scholarship applications.
Following the deputation, Sujit Tripura informed that the Deputy Directorate of Public Welfare Department has assured that they will look into this matter. The students, including those from TSU, are hopeful for a positive resolution.
