Agartala, 5th April 2026: Tripura’s Director General of Police, Anurag, on Sunday stated that robust security arrangements have been put in place ahead of the Dharmanagar Assembly by-election and the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) polls. He said the overall law and order situation in the state is stable.
The DGP visited North Tripura to review election preparedness with officials from the police administration of North and Unakoti districts. He said the Dharmanagar by-election is scheduled for April 9, while two TTAADC constituencies in North and Unakoti districts will go to polls on April 12.
“Comprehensive security measures have been implemented for the pre-poll period. On polling days, there will be a large-scale deployment of forces, and post-poll security arrangements are also being finalized. I am confident that the elections will be conducted peacefully,” Anurag said.
He added that the visit aimed to inspect the readiness of local police and civil administration. “If needed, further adjustments and actions will be taken to ensure smooth elections,” he said, praising the effective coordination between civil authorities and the police.
The review meeting included IGP (Law & Order) Carey Marak, North Tripura SP Avinash Rai, Unakoti SP Sudhambika R, and the Commandants of the 15th and 13th Battalions of Tripura State Rifles.
