Agartala, 19th July 2026: The Tripura Employees’ Coordination Committee (HB Road) organized a massive rally in Agartala on Sunday, pressing for the implementation of a 25-point charter of demands concerning both state and central government issues.
The procession began from Paradise Chowmuhani and marched through several major roads of the city. A large number of government employees, teachers, and pensioners participated in the rally, carrying placards and banners while raising slogans demanding the immediate fulfillment of their long-pending grievances.
Addressing the gathering after the rally, the committee’s General Secretary, Mahua Roy, said the programme was organized to highlight 14 state-level and 11 national-level demands.
Among the key state-level demands are the immediate recruitment of teachers and employees to fill vacant posts in various government departments, abolition of contractual and outsourcing appointments, regularization of irregular employees, payment of Dearness Allowance (DA) twice a year, immediate clearance of pending DA and Dearness Relief (DR) arrears, constitution of the Eighth State Pay Commission, restoration of the previous Die-in-Harness scheme, correction of anomalies related to the Modified Assured Career Progression (MACP) scheme, introduction of regular pay scales for fixed-pay employees, removal of promotion-related complications, equal financial benefits for employees under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), improvement of law and order, enhanced safety for women, alternative employment opportunities for the 10,323 terminated teachers, an end to discriminatory practices in government schools, and withdrawal of amendments to the Grant-in-Aid Rules.
The committee also placed 11 national-level demands, including the repeal of the four Labour Codes, withdrawal of the National Pension System (NPS) and Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) by repealing the PFRDA Act, regularization of contractual employees, an end to the privatization of public sector undertakings, implementation of the benefits of the Eighth Central Pay Commission, payment of all pending DA dues, introduction of government-supported cashless health insurance, withdrawal of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, review of the relevant provisions under Articles 310 and 311(2) of the Constitution, protection of secular values, and strengthening the financial relationship between the Centre and the states.
Leaders of the Tripura Employees’ Coordination Committee said employees’ dissatisfaction has been growing as their demands have remained unaddressed for a long time. They urged the government to act promptly and warned that the organization would intensify its agitation in the future if the demands continue to be ignored.
