Agartala, 8th May 2025 : Tripura’s senior journalist and Editor of Tripurainfo.com, Jayanta Debnath filed a complaint against Sailesh Yadav , IAS, for threatening him of dire consequences.

The complaint was filed with New Capital Complex Police station against Yadav who is CEO of Agartala Smart City Limited.  “Today, around 9:00 AM, the CEO of Agartala Smart City, Sailesh Yadav, IAS, called me on my mobile number and questioned who had provided certain information to one of our journalists regarding a recent news report related to him. I told him that I would prefer to visit his office and discuss the matter in detail. However, he refused and instead threatened me, saying that if I did not disclose the source of the news, he would take such an action against me that neither I nor tripurainfo.com would ever forget”, he said.

Jayanta further alleged that the IAS officer  further became aggressive and threatened to shoot both Jayanta and his son. “He also mentioned the names of Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha and the District Magistrate of West Tripura Dr Vishal Kumar claiming that one of them must have given the information to our journalist. He arrogantly said that while they would not remain in Tripura forever, he would stay in the state for the next 20 years. He also threatened over the phone that not even the Chief Minister of Tripura would be able to protect the tripurainfo.com building”, said the senior journalist.

He further requested the Police to take all necessary steps to ensure that no harm comes to him, his son, or the tripurainfo.com office. “I also request you to provide protection for us and our team and to take legal action against Sailesh Yadav, IAS for issuing death threats. I seek your kind intervention and justice in this matter”, the complaint reads.
