Agartala, September 21, 2022: Tripura NET-SLET-Ph.D Forum on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to the Director of Higher Education department NC Sharma at Shiksha Bhavan here.
Speaking to reporters here, Tripura NET-SLET-Ph.D Forum president Pranay Deb said that a large numbers of the unemployed NET-SLET and Ph.D pass out eligible candidates of Tripura are not getting the opportunity to apply in the recruitment process for Assistant Professor in Government Degree Colleges of Tripura. Hence, fulfilling all requisite qualifications prescribed in the UGC guidelines and regulations for the appointment of Assistant Professor in Colleges and Universities, Two thousands (2000) of domicile candidates are deprived. It is to be mentioned here that, almost 200 of the candidates have already been over aged (above 40 years).
In such a situation, the teaching-learning systems of colleges are being disrupted severely. Due to the lack of requisite number of regular teachers in colleges, students are deprived of getting quality in higher education in Tripura, he added.
The Forum’s demands are: To make immediate recruitment for all the vacant posts of Assistant Professor created in 2001; To create new posts of Assistant professor for newly established colleges in Tripura as per student-teacher ratio prescribed by the UGC; To make a provision of ‘State Aided Assistant Professor and should be introduced instead of Guest Lecturer; To make a scheme of ‘contractual Assistant professor’ in Government degree colleges for sanctioned vacant posts till the appointment of Regular faculty; To give priority to Local Candidates and Official Language of the state in Recruitment Process; Teaching Experiences of Guest Lecturer engaged in degree colleges of Tripura should be counted while recruiting Assistant Professor; To introduce new subjects in PG Courses under MBB University; and To take initiative for the establishment of PG Campus of Tripura University and MBB University at least three different places of Tripura preferably at Khumulwng, Kailashahar and Udaipur.
Tripura NET-SLET-Ph.D Forum requested the Higher Education Director Sharma for initiating necessary steps to protect the interest of the students, teachers and future generations of the state of Tripura and obviously ensuring the maintenance of quality in higher education in the state.
