Tripura partners with NSE to promote financial literacy, capital market access and economic growth: CM Dr Manik Saha

Date:

Agartala, 28th July 2026 :   The Tripura government on Tuesday entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Stock Exchange (NSE), marking a significant step towards enhancing financial literacy, expanding investment opportunities, and facilitating easier access to capital for businesses and public sector enterprises. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, who attended the MoU signing ceremony, said the partnership would pave the way for a stronger and more inclusive financial ecosystem in the state.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Saha underlined the importance of educating people about regulated investment avenues. He said that while stock market participation has become easier than ever, awareness about safe investment practices remains limited among many sections of society.

Referring to the financial scams of the past, the Chief Minister recalled how several residents of Tripura had suffered losses after investing in fraudulent chit fund companies such as Saradha and Rose Valley. He stressed that greater awareness about investments regulated by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) would help prevent such incidents in the future.

“People need proper guidance on where to invest their money safely. Through this initiative, SEBI and the National Stock Exchange will play a vital role in spreading financial awareness and encouraging secure investment practices,” he said.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the wider economic significance of the MoU, stating that it would provide new financing avenues for Tripura’s Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). Instead of depending exclusively on government budgetary support or bank loans, PSUs would be able to explore capital market instruments, including exchange-listed bonds, to raise funds for development projects.

Dr. Saha noted that Tripura has recorded remarkable progress in Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) and per capita income over the past six years, attributing the growth to the state’s development-oriented policies. He expressed confidence that the partnership with NSE would further strengthen the state’s economic momentum.

The agreement, he said, would also prove beneficial for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by improving their access to finance and promoting greater financial inclusion.

The MoU brings together three key state institutions—the Directorate of Industries & Commerce, the Directorate of Skill Development, and the Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC). Expressing optimism, the Chief Minister said the collaboration would create fresh opportunities for entrepreneurship, skill development, investment awareness, and sustainable economic growth across the state.

“I am confident that this partnership will open a new chapter for Tripura, empowering individuals, supporting businesses, and contributing to the state’s long-term economic development,” Dr. Saha added.
