Tripura Pays Final Tribute to Former Assembly Speaker Biswabandhu Sen, last right held with full state honor

Agartala, 28th December 2025:  Former Tripura Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswabandhu Sen was laid to rest today with full state honours in his hometown of Dharmanagar, drawing leaders and citizens alike to pay their respects.

The late Speaker’s mortal remains arrived at his Dharmanagar residence on Thursday night. Several prominent leaders, including Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, North Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Aparna Nath, and Dharmanagar Municipal Council Chairperson Mitali Rani Das Sen, paid homage to him.

On Friday morning, the body was taken to Ramthakur Ashram before a solemn funeral procession made its way through Dharmanagar’s streets. Residents, social workers, artists, writers, and theatre personalities gathered along the route to offer floral tributes, reflecting the deep respect he commanded across the community.

The procession culminated at the Dharmanagar cremation ground, where leaders and officials, including Minister Santana Chakma, Legislative Assembly Chief Whip Kalyani Saha Roy, MLAs Binay Bhushan Das and Jadavlal Debnath, district administration officials, and social activists, honored Sen’s contributions. A joint contingent of Tripura Police and Tripura State Rifles paid homage with a gun salute.

Biswabandhu Sen passed away on December 26 at a hospital in Bengaluru. Known for his dedication to public service, his death marks the end of a significant chapter in Tripura’s political landscape.
