Agartala, 22nd February 2026:   In a swift operation early Sunday morning, the Tripura Police successfully thwarted an alleged abduction attempt targeting two employees at an energy company’s drilling site in Gomati district.

The incident took place late Saturday night at the Chandipur Drilling Complex under the jurisdiction of Silachari Police Station. According to local authorities, unidentified individuals attempted to forcibly take the employees using two vehicles.

“Upon receiving the report, our team immediately mobilized and coordinated with nearby stations across the district. Checkpoints were set up to prevent the suspects from escaping,” said Karbook Sub-Divisional Police Officer Gamanjoy Reang.

Faced with heightened security measures, the alleged abductors reportedly abandoned their vehicles and fled the scene, leaving the employees unharmed. Both workers, identified as Sandeep Verma, a senior engineer, and Ritesh Singh, a rig operator, were safely escorted to the police station.

The police confirmed that the rescue was carried out near Bagafa in South Tripura with assistance from the South District police team. An investigation has been launched, and search operations are ongoing to apprehend those responsible.

Authorities have urged local residents to report any suspicious activity in the area as the probe continues.
