Agartala, 21st September 2025 : the redeveloped Mata Tripura Sundari Temple Complex in Udaipur, Gomati district. The renovation, completed under the PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive) scheme, modernizes one of India’s most sacred Shakti Peethas while retaining its cultural essence.
This marks PM Modi’s 11th visit to Tripura since 2014, with his first being the inauguration of Palatana Power Plant’s second unit. Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury revealed the Rs 52-crore redevelopment was funded with Rs 17 crore from the state and the remainder from the Centre.
The temple complex, designed to resemble a tortoise from above, symbolizes stability and divinity. Spread over three floors, it features modern pathways, renovated entrances, upgraded drainage, a three-storied facility with stalls, a meditation hall, guest accommodations, and office spaces. Officials believe the revamp will boost tourism, create jobs, and support local businesses.
Security has been tightened across Agartala and Udaipur, with Tripura Police, State Rifles, and CAPF deployed. PM Modi will land at MBB Airport, fly to Palatana Helipad, and travel by road to the temple. Heavy vehicle restrictions will be in place along key routes from 10 am to 7 pm.
Tourism Minister Chowdhury said, “Mata Tripurasundari Temple is a jewel of Northeast India’s spiritual tourism. The inauguration will attract devotees and tourists nationwide.” Tripura is ready to showcase its spiritual heritage on a grand stage.
