Tripura reports 3 lakh registered job seekers as per NCS portal, reports ES&MP department

Agartala, 4th March 2024:   In a recent disclosure during the Assembly’s budget session, Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha, who oversees the Employment Services and Manpower Planning Department on Monday unveiled startling statistics regarding the job market in Tripura. According to data sourced from the National Career Service portal, the state has a total of 3,00,029 registered job seekers as of January 31, 2024.

Responding to queries raised by Congress MLA Gopal Chandra Roy, and CPIM MLAs Nirmal Biswas and Jitendra Chaudhury, the Chief Minister provided a detailed breakdown of the registered job seekers. The statistics reveal a diverse range of educational backgrounds among the job seekers, with various levels of qualifications represented.

Among the registered job seekers, the data shows that 41,999 are up to class IX, 74,287 have passed class X, 1,503 have passed class XI, 83,084 have passed class XII, 3,125 hold diplomas after class X, and 4,200 hold diplomas after class XII. Moreover, there are 66,932 graduate job seekers, 16,526 post-graduate job seekers, 218 Ph.D. job seekers, 1,006 with no formal schooling, 577 ITI graduates, 97 with PG Diplomas, 6,305 up to class VIII, and 170 with unspecified educational backgrounds.

Further analysis of the data provided by the Chief Minister reveals demographic information about the job seekers. Out of the total 3,00,029 job seekers, 71,232 belong to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community, 52,148 belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) community, 35,785 are from minority communities, and 2,444 are individuals with disabilities (Divyangjan).

The revelation of these statistics sheds light on the employment landscape in Tripura, highlighting the challenges and opportunities faced by job seekers from diverse backgrounds. As the Assembly continues its deliberations, addressing the concerns raised by the Chief Minister’s disclosure is likely to remain a focal point in policy discussions moving forward.
