Agartala, 28th May 2025:  Tripura Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Wednesday said the state is all set to roll out the Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan from Thursday, with activities planned across 864 locations. The campaign, aimed at promoting agricultural self-reliance ahead of the Kharif season, will continue until June 12.

Speaking to the media, Nath revealed that Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is likely to visit Tripura in connection with the event, although the final schedule is yet to be confirmed.

“In alignment with the nationwide campaign, Tripura will observe the Abhiyan at 864 sites. In each district, three committees have been formed to oversee daily interactions with farmers. Meetings will be conducted in three time slots—9–11 AM, 12–2 PM, and 3–5 PM—reaching around 200 farmers per day at each location,” Nath said. These committees will comprise officials from the Agriculture, Horticulture, ARDD, and Fisheries departments, along with experts from ICAR, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), agricultural and veterinary colleges, and leading local farmers.

According to Nath, 72 major meetings are scheduled to take place across the state. In addition, 24 Krishi Raths will travel to different areas, disseminating information on state and central government schemes related to agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, and fisheries. Each Rath will feature banners and visual displays to raise awareness.

The campaign will be officially launched by Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on May 30 at Bishramganj in Sepahijala district. Ministers, MLAs, MDCs, and other public representatives will also take part in the outreach programs. Highlighting the broader goals of the initiative, Nath said the Abhiyan is focused on ensuring food security and equipping farmers with modern tools, training, and knowledge. “The government wants every farmer to know they are not alone—we are here with them, providing technology, support, and guidance,” he said.

So far, nearly 1.72 lakh farmers across the state have been contacted about the program. Around 200 agricultural scientists, along with progressive farmers, will participate in the events to provide on-ground support and interaction.
