Tripura has once again demonstrated its growing industrial potential by emerging as one of the Top Achievers at the Udyog Samagam 2025, organized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
The State received recognition for its outstanding performance in two key reform areas under the Business Reforms Action Plan (BRAP) 2024, reaffirming its commitment to improving the ease of doing business and fostering industrial growth.
Tripura’s Minister for Industries and Commerce, Santana Chakma, received the award on behalf of the State from Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, during the event.
In his address, Piyush Goyal highlighted the importance of quality, collaboration, and innovation in propelling India’s industrial development. He reiterated the Central Government’s commitment to supporting all States and Union Territories in ensuring the delivery of high-quality products and building a robust and sustainable industrial ecosystem.
Tripura, categorized under Category X (North-Eastern States and UTs with developing systems), featured among the Aspirer States, recognized for its consistent implementation of reforms and effective governance in business facilitation.
The BRAP 2024 framework encompassed 434 reform points spanning Central and State domains and was supported by one of India’s largest national feedback exercises, engaging over 5.8 lakh businesses and 1.3 lakh stakeholders across 34 States and Union Territories.
The Union Minister also urged States to emphasize innovation, women’s entrepreneurship, startups, and deep-tech enterprises, while leveraging new Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) that protect the interests of farmers, manufacturers, and other stakeholders.
