The initiative aims to enhance services under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).

The project is being jointly implemented by the National Centre for Chronic Disease Control, AIIMS New Delhi, Agartala Government Medical College & GBP Hospital, and the National Health Mission, Tripura.

Senior officials including NHM Mission Director Saju Vaheed A, Director of Health Services Dr. Debasri Debbarma, and Director of Family Welfare Dr. Anjan Das attended the meeting, along with scientists and healthcare experts.

Officials highlighted key achievements, including free distribution of medicines for diabetes and hypertension, modernization of diagnostics through Semi-Auto Analyzers, and the expansion of screening services to cover the entire population. A digital monitoring system has also been strengthened to track patients and ensure continuity of care.

Plans are underway to introduce an AI-based integrated hospital management system for better tracking of medicine supplies and patient data. The team emphasized maintaining adequate medicine stock to meet emergency needs.

The STAR NCD team also praised the state’s ‘Chief Minister’s Niramoy Arogya Abhiyan,’ which has significantly boosted early detection and treatment. During its first phase, over 3.5 lakh people were screened, leading to the detection of thousands of hypertension and diabetes cases, alongside extensive cancer screenings across the state.
