Agartala, 3rd May 2026: Tripura’s talented student Ananya Debnath has brought pride to the state by achieving remarkable success at the national level in folk music during the academic year 2025–26. She has been selected among only six students across India in the prestigious scholarship examination conducted by the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT), under the Ministry of Culture. Ananya stands as the sole recipient from Tripura in the folk music category this year, setting a distinguished example.
A resident of A.D. Nagar in Agartala, Ananya is a student of Agartala Shishu Bihar School. Her deep-rooted passion for folk music since childhood, nurtured through regular practice, dedication, and perseverance, has now reached a unique height. Much of her success is credited to the affectionate guidance and tireless efforts of her music teacher, Monika Chakraborty.
Behind Ananya’s journey lies the unwavering support of her mother, Soma Bhowmik, who sacrificed her own comfort and time to stand by her daughter’s dream — from daily practice sessions to competition preparations. Her father, Nikhil Debnath, has also been a constant source of encouragement and support.
Ananya’s achievement has sparked joy and pride among her family, teachers, and the cultural fraternity of Tripura. She has received heartfelt congratulations and best wishes from all quarters, with many hailing her success as a shining example of the state’s rich cultural talent making its mark on the national stage.
