Agartala, 21st March 2025 : With the financial support of the Indian Council of Social Science Research, the Department of Sanskrit organized a National Seminar on “Sanskrit and Folk Culture” today and tomorrow at Tripura University.
The inaugural session was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Ganga Prasad Prasain. The Registrar of the University, Dr. Deepak Sharma and the Dean of the School of Literature, Professor Vinod Kumar Mishra were present.
In the captivating lecture discussion, everyone discussed in detail the inseparable relationship between Sanskrit and folk culture, mentioning the vast folk elements and religious culture in Sanskrit literature. In each speech, the distorted interpretation of Indian knowledge tradition in Western criticism came up. Everyone agreed that it is possible to save folk culture only by saving Sanskrit literature.
A total of 35 papers will be presented in this two-day seminar. Subject experts from various universities and colleges of the country will present research papers on Sanskrit and folk culture.
