Tripura youth arrested with Drugs at Bazaricherra, produced before court

Agartala, 11th July 2026:  Acting on a tip-off, police in Bazaricherra’s Kathaltali outpost apprehended a youth with narcotics in broad daylight on Friday. The operation was led under the supervision of Patharkandi Sub-Divisional Police Officer Anirban Sharma, with teams from Bazaricherra and Kathaltali police stations deployed in Marugaon area. 

According to Bazaricherra’s newly appointed Officer-in-Charge, Khnindra Nath, the suspect — identified as 33-year-old Sukanta Nath of Kanchanpur, Tripura — was caught red-handed while allegedly injecting suspected heroin. A subsequent search recovered 40 containers holding approximately 20 grams of suspected heroin, along with two empty containers and a syringe. 

The accused was detained overnight and interrogated at the police station. Following the seizure, a case was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. On Saturday, Sukanta Nath was produced before the District Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court, which ordered his remand to jail custody. 

This arrest highlights the ongoing crackdown by Tripura police against drug abuse and trafficking in the region.
