Agartala, 19th March 2025:   Tripura is on the brink of a historic sporting milestone as its first international cricket stadium nears completion. Located in Narsinghgarh, Agartala, the stadium is expected to be ready for inauguration by mid-2025, marking a new era for cricket in the state.

Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Tinku Roy acknowledged the long journey of the project, which began in 2017 but faced significant delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “After discussions with the Tripura Cricket Association, we have been assured that the remaining work will be completed soon, paving the way for the grand opening,” he said.

Once operational, the stadium will be the second-largest cricket venue in Northeast India, following Guwahati, and will have a seating capacity of 25,000. It is set to become the official home ground for the Tripura cricket team and could also host international matches, elevating the state’s status on the cricketing map.

Owned and managed by the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA), the stadium is expected to provide a significant boost to cricket infrastructure in the region, inspiring young talents and positioning Tripura as a key player in India’s cricketing future.
