Agartala, 30th October 2025: The skies over Tripura are shining brighter than ever—not just with sunlight, but with the promise of progress. Under the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana, the state has achieved a major green energy milestone, generating over 4 megawatts (MW) of solar power through its rooftop initiatives.
According to the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL), a total of 16,965 households have registered under the scheme so far, and 1,210 homes have already installed rooftop solar systems. These installations are collectively producing 4 MW of clean, renewable electricity, brightening homes and transforming communities across the state.
What makes the initiative even more remarkable is its dual benefit—many households are now generating more power than they consume and are selling the surplus back to the grid. So far, 187 consumers have sold excess electricity to TSECL, earning a combined income of Rs 53,514, directly credited to their bank accounts.
“Once, sunset in Tripura meant darkness,” TSECL noted. “Today, the same sun is the source of both light and livelihood. Through this solar revolution, Tripura has shown that true progress shines not just from power poles but from people’s empowerment and sustainable living.”
This achievement marks a significant step in Tripura’s journey toward energy independence and a cleaner, more resilient future.
