Agartala, 7th March 2024:   Naresh Jamatia, the president of the Tripura Rajya Upajati Ganamukti Parishad, accused Tipra Motha of betraying the people by aligning with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Despite public sentiment being against the BJP, Jamatia claimed that Tipra Motha’s leaders were already leaning towards the party.

The press conference, held at the CPIM state office on Thursday, was organized by the central committee of the Tripura Rajya Upajati Gana Mukti Parishad. Jamatia pointed out that the recent tripartite agreement signed between the central government, state government, and Tipra Motha in Delhi did not mention Greater Tipraland. He further stated that the rights, including land rights, mentioned in the agreement are already held by the Autonomous District Council (ADC).

Jamatia accused Tipra Motha of misleading the people and resorting to fasting to death. He also highlighted that there is no ADC in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state of Gujarat. He warned that the BJP and Tipra Motha have united with the intention to erode the existence of the people.

In his address, Jamatia also raised concerns about the village committee elections not being held in the ADC, accusing the BJP of stripping away the rights of village heads and members. He further criticized the government, stating that the rights established by the previous government have been dismantled.

In addition to these serious allegations, Jamatia accused the Tipra Motha ADC of ongoing corruption and wastage in the area. He claimed that they are unable to pay the salaries of the employees and are squandering money in the ADC by creating zonal and sub-zonal chairmen. Radhacharan Debbarma, a leader of the organization, was also present at the press conference.
