Agartala, 24th July 2024: Biswajit Basu, the Managing Director of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL), announced on Wednesday the initiation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for laying underground power cables in Agartala city.
During a press briefing, MD Biswajit Basu highlighted the rising power demand in Tripura, with peak hour requirements currently at approximately 300 MW and projected to exceed 750 MW.
“The work on laying underground cables in Agartala has already commenced. This project will be executed in two phases: one within the Smart City project boundaries and the other by TSECL. Both 11 kV and Low Tension lines will be installed underground. We have begun preparing the DPR and are arranging the necessary financial resources,” stated Basu.
He further mentioned that TSECL has deployed power officials and linemen around the clock across the state’s 67 power sub-divisions.
“Over 20,000 distribution transformers have been installed, with several due for replacement soon. Starting from the first week of August, maintenance work for Durga Puja will commence, including transformer replacements as needed. We are also working to enhance the capacity of our call centres and provide mobile numbers at the sub-divisional level, ensuring that residents can easily contact their local power office for any complaints,” he added.
